1. 1. Which best describes the example that you set for others? I'm a role model. I work hard to ensure that I'm a solid performer at work, at home, and in life. Some days I set a great example, other days I don't. Honestly, I wouldn't want to follow my example. I know I need to improve on my performance.
2. 2. When it comes to making choices, how decisive are you? Not decisive at all. I have trouble picking out which shoes to wear to work! I'm fairly decisive. I make decisions after evaluating my options and considering the implications of a choice. Very! I can make a major life choice in 10 minutes.
3. 3. What's typically your first reaction when a problem arises? I get nervous and concerned and then I clam up, hoping no one blames me. I accept responsibility for my role in the problem and work to try to resolve the issue. I avoid blame and work hard to pin the problem on someone else.
4. 4. What is one of a leader's most important responsibilities? Leaders are bosses who tell other people what to do. Leaders take care of their teams—whether their teams include their colleagues or their family members. Leaders are in charge of processes but do not need to be concerned with individuals.
5. 5. What is your response when someone sends you an unprofessional, mean-spirited email? After a few minutes, I pick up the phone, call the sender, and attempt to diffuse the situation in a professional, unemotional manner. I send a mean-spirited email right back, cc'ing all of my colleagues. I usually send an email back ... but then find myself embarrassed by my own unprofessional actions.
6. 6. Which best describes how you handle a crisis situation? My first reaction is to panic and freeze. I get pretty anxious during times of crisis. When I sense a crisis, I try to hide from it, hoping it will blow over. As soon as I perceive a possible crisis, I start taking action to bring about resolution.
7. 7. When combined, which qualities ensure success? Power, prestige, fame, and fortune. Courage, initiative, perseverance, and integrity. Coincidence, ability, money, and job title.
8. 8. In frustrating situations, how good are you at controlling your emotions? Excellent. I don't waste time crying, whining, or complaining over something or someone that won't do the same over me. Not so good. My job gives me something to cry about on a weekly basis. OK. Sometimes I can keep my emotions in check; other times work can make me quite emotional.
9. 9. During a typical day, how often do you utter the phrase "I'm sorry"? Now that I think about it, I realize I say "I'm sorry" too many times to count. It's part of my regular vocabulary. I use it three to five times a day. Rarely. I only apologize when I'm at fault.
10. 10. How would you describe your personality? Genuine and authentic. I'm confident in who I am as a person, so why hide my personality? I'm a people pleaser. I can adapt and change quickly to be what others want me to be. Depends on my organization. I can fit the mold my company requires.
