Considering Coaching

Questions & Answers

1. How do I know if a coaching program is right for me?

Courtney:

A coaching program is right for you if you want to become a stronger leader at home or at work. If you are focused on becoming more effective as a professional and as a person, a coaching program will move you towards your goals in an efficient manner. You will be surprised at the amount of growth you will experience through coaching.

Angie:

If you are seeking practical solutions to the challenges you are facing, consider a coaching program. Having the opportunity to discuss, reflect and learn with a coach allows you to grow and expand your capabilities in new ways. You know a coaching program is right for you if you are ready to take a step towards becoming the best version of yourself.

2. What activities take place during a coaching program?

Angie:

Our coaching programs engage you in a variety of ways. Each of your coaching sessions with either Courtney or me will take place over the phone. In addition to your personal coaching sessions (depending on the program you select), you'll complete an initial assessment, excerpted readings and targeted assignments along the way. No two coaching programs are alike. Each program is designed exactly for each participant.

3. I am BUSY! Will a coaching program fit my schedule?

Courtney:

Every Lead Star Coaching Program is designed to fit a busy professional's schedule. We don't overwhelm you with work, but we expect you to overwhelm us with effort. The projects you complete will be very relevant to your daily life. And, we provide reasonable deadlines for the work you'll do. Every one of your coaching sessions with Angie or me is scheduled at a time that works best for you. During your coaching program we work for you and you drive the schedule.

Angie:

You'll put in a strong effort to achieve great results, but you'll be able to do so without being stressed or maxed out. Everyone who participates in a Lead Star Coaching Program is a busy person. We know that and we work with that well. We'll also help you understand why you are so busy and if that is limiting your quality of life. If you think you are too busy for a coaching program, that's a strong indicator a program would be good for you.

4. Who typically enrolls in a coaching program?

Angie:

High achievers who want to stay motivated, reenergize, get back on track, get on a new track or raise the bar on their performance are the "traditional" Lead Star coaching candidate. The range of executives, managers, supervisors and individual contributors who have participated in our coaching programs is very diverse. Whether you are a senior executive who has tremendous P&L responsibility, a manager who leads a team of five, or your only professional obligation is to lead yourself, you'll find a Lead Star Coaching Program a good fit. That's because what's typical about participants who enroll in a Lead Star Coaching Program has nothing to do with their job title. The unifying trait among all of our program Alumni is that they wanted to be better at what they do–at work and in life.

5. What will I learn through a coaching program?

Courtney:

The learning is endless. For many who participate in a coaching program, it's the first time they have ever had a chance to reflect on where they are professionally, where they want to be personally and understand exactly what they need to do to get there. When you participate in a Lead Star Coaching Program, you get honest, refreshing, actionable feedback on how you can take your leadership skills to the next level. Leadership skills are people skills. You'll learn how to influence outcomes and inspire others better. Plus, you'll learn to recognize and overcome self-defeating behaviors that can be holding you back from achieving what's important to you in life.

Angie:

In a Lead Star Coaching Program you learn by doing. Your coaching program assignments will be custom to you. Improving in your current roles and responsibilities will be highlighted through each project your complete. And, you'll be focusing on preparing for future pursuits.

6. What does it take to successfully complete a Lead Star Coaching Program?

Courtney:

It takes a commitment to doing your best. To ensure you get the maximum benefit from a program you just have to be open to learning, ready to grow and willing to explore how leadership behaviors will add value to your life. Your coach will lead you every step of the way through the program. From helping you identify your definition of a successful program, to inspiring you to accomplish your program goals, to giving you honest feedback in a caring way, if you are ready to grow and develop as a leader, you will.

Angie:

Honestly, the biggest factor of your success with a coaching program is your willingness to enroll. If you sign up to participate, we'll get you moving forward towards meeting your goals.

7. Will my employer pay for my coaching program?

Courtney:

You should definitely ask them to. The majority of our coaching program participants have their employer sponsor their enrollment. Many participants have told us they are interested in self-funding their program. We always advise them to at least ask their employer for support.
